Shady Shakespeare relies greatly on our many volunteers who give generously of their time on one of our committees, each of which helps support a key area of the company. To join a committee, please
Education Committee
Shady Shakespeare has recently launched an education program for both adults and teens. The role of the education committee is to develop and manage educational events and classes. The goal of this committee is to grow and develop SSTC's education to include taking Shakespeare out into our schools. Committee members also help with research, writing, performing, and by building relations with educational institutions.
Fundraising Committee
Fundraising is the oil that keeps the Shady Shakespeare machine running. It's what allows us to present our work to the public for free, even though the costs of doing what we do every year is considerable. Members of the fundraising committee manage and participate in fundraising activities throughout the year, from poker and golf tournaments to our annual gala. They also write grants and research new fundraising opportunities.
Publicity and Public Relations Committee
Shady Shakespeare looks to our publicity committee to help get the word out about our performances, fundraising and education events. Publicity committee members contribute skills including graphic design and public relations, and they assist with marketing administration and the management of external vendors.
Volunteer Development Committee
Volunteers are the life blood of Shady Shakespeare. This committee advertises volunteer opportunities, such as ushering, set building, letter writing, and board and committee membership. It is also the job of this committee to make sure our volunteers have a great experience with Shady Shakespeare and to reward volunteers for their service.
